Father's day

I'm a little behind, just getting around to our Father's Day weekend. It's one of those days that brings me heartache and joy all wrapped into one. This Father's Day weekend was filled to the brim with ball and ball and a lot more ball, let's just say it was actually a pretty good distraction.

The kiddos both had a tournament which left us on the field all weekend. We had 6 games on Saturday alone, and due to a rain delay, we played them in a span of 9 hours. Talk about exhausted!

To top off the long day, the opponents we faced were a notch above both of our girls' teams. Which meant we were on the losing end for every single game. It was a long day, playing against A ranked teams in 90 degree heat. But they both went out and gave it their best each and every inning and we were so proud of them. Our rock star Regan is the sole catcher on her team so she spends every inning behind the plate, and it's a tough job!

Following the completion of games on Sunday, we had enough time to treat Ryan to dinner at his favorite local pizzeria where we feasted on fancy antipasto plates and amazing pizza with our sunkissed cheeks.

It was a jam packed, completely exhausting weekend doing just what we love to do most: hanging out together.
By the end, we all were ready for a good night's sleep :)

Father's day

I get the pleasure of spending my days with these crazy fools.
(I love that Lincoln has the look of "what is wrong with these people?!")

Ryan's Father's Day started off with begging by the girls for him to open presents (actually it started with a text from his golfing buddies saying they were cancelling golf for the day). I tried waiting until everyone was dressed for present time, but that wasn't happening. They were dying for him to open all the gifts they have been working on, along with a few we purchased from the store.

One gift in particular was a photo book that I created (via Shutterfly) with loads and loads of pictures with just Ryan and his kiddos. I snuck in time on the computer while he was busy watching sports on TV each night and managed to get that thing finished just in time. We all love to flip through it and looking back at the last 8 years of fatherhood.
not to mention a lot of new pictures of this cutie, who waited patiently in his chair at breakfast while daddy opened presents.

Sidney brought this paper home from daycare about her dad. Oh boy did we laugh....
Just look at question #10....

Ryan admitted "I have never baked anything in my life!" She claims she couldn't think of anything else. But I think she must feel like he is baking with us when he is standing around the kitchen waiting for our creations to be finished :)

Let's take one more look at this crew, aren't they the most adorable things ever!?
Happy Father's Day Ryan!
Although you didn't get your round of golf in the morning (rain, wind and trees down didn't help), we're sure glad to have spent the ENTIRE day with you!

Father's Day 2013

Father's Day 2013 was a successful one! The sun was shining brightly by 8am and the girls jumped out of bed ready for the day. We let the daddy of the bunch sleep til nearly 10am (he had a late night with Uncle Shane the previous night), and then we all hopped in the warm pool because the air temp was already 82F. Not bad considering the summer we've had.

We took a mid day break from swimming and, at dad's request, went for a walk around a nearby lake, took some pictures (really the only ones I took all day) and climbed a few trees.

By then, everyone was hot and ready for more swimming so we headed home and did just that. Ryan mowed the lawn (a necessity after all the recent rain), and jumped in to join us in the warm June air.

His dinner request was a local "wingie" place where our entire bill was comped due to some crazy happenings throughout the dinner. All in all, it was a wonderful Father's Day and we want to wish our fathers a happy day as well!

Happy Father's Day 2012

Father's day 2012 started out with a relaxing trip to Lake Harriet for a picnic lunch and streetcar ride. I documented it via pictures of course, so here we go.

The girls just love to dance around inside the bandshell overlooking the lake. They were able to do just that before lunch when the band arrived to set up for their next show.

We laid out our blanket and hung out, taking in life around us. Thankfully, the girls are still at an age where it's "cool" to be seen with your parents :)

Sidney's expressions can tell a story. She shows happy and joy as quickly as she shows disappointment and fear. Today, she spotted a crane sitting near a duck and screamed "LOOK!! it's a huge duck!". She was sooooo excited!
Love her.

Her snuggles up close to Ryan were priceless. Lately, he has started to tell me "I think she finally likes me!". In all honesty, she has loved him all along, but her preference is mom. She's starting to warm up to him and one night even asked him to put her to bed....though a few minutes later asked me to go through the process again :) We'll take what we can get!

I was so busy taking pictures of Ryan with the girls that when we boarded the streetcar, I finally asked for one of me with the girls.
We hope he had a lovely Father's Day hanging out with us (and for the record, he golfed yesterday so he said he wanted to spend today with us....awww, what a nice guy!).

Happy Father's Day-2011

Having a child turns a man into a father.
Spending days on end playing doll house, reading stories, watching movies
and coloring turns a father into a daddy.

Regan with Ryan (spring 2006)
Sidney and Ryan (September 2008)
I'm doing my best to convince him to add another picture to this post....just one more time at being a daddy!

Happy Father's Day!

(Yes, I realize this picture isn't from today, but I wasn't able to get one of the two of them today....the little one wasn't in the mood when the camera was out).
This little cutie, however, was all about a picture as she snuggled up close to daddy!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DADDY'S OUT THERE!
