The girls

It's been a long while since Logan and Leigha have been able to join us for our weekly dinners (something about having a newborn and not enough energy). So when I told Regan and Sidney that "THE" girls would be coming for dinner Thursday, they were over the moon excited!

We are so lucky that they are both so good to our girls, snuggling up and enjoying their company.

weekly dinner

With the plethora of activities, homework, play dates and responsibilities at work, we haven't been able to see Leigha (or Logan) as much as we would like. So when the girls found out that Leigha was joining us for dinner earlier this week, they squealed with delight. And then the doorbell rang and they squealed even louder.
She's pretty great when it comes to playing games with the girls, and Twister was the game of choice on this night :) That game makes me laugh.

And she's super great at snuggling with the girls before bed.

Together again

Tonight, both Leigha AND Logan were able to join us for our weekly dinners as Logan returns from summer break. We've missed our regular gatherings and the girls had an impromptu beauty salon nail polish session with L & L doing all the work :) Thanks ladies!

Puzzles with Logie (and Nala)

I'm realizing that Regan is definitely ready to work on larger puzzles so when she pulled out this long-forgotten puzzle, I was thrilled with her energy to help Logan complete it. Just after posing for this picture, Sidney (in true Sidney fashion), did what we fully expected her to do, put her hands under the puzzle and ripped it apart.
So much for Regan and Logan's hard work!

Wednesday night dinners....we've grown

This is the second year that Logan has been joining us for Wednesday night dinners. And this year, another cousin of Ryan's has moved to the big city and is joining us weekly :) We are thrilled to have her and the girls simply love her! All night we heard "save me Leigha" from Sidney as she was being tickled, squished or attacked by her big sister.
And when Logan is around, the girls are sure to get tossed or flipped or tickled (until they "toot"!). Tonight, I came into the family room hearing "do it again Logie....please?". How could she resist!? Up and over hear head she went, with Sidney landing on the couch in giggles.
We tried playing a game, but the girls, with the help of Logan of course, decided making 'boobies' would be much more fun! Clearly, Wednesday night dinners aren't just about the dinner, but a lot about the memories that the girls are making...yes "boobies" included!
Oh brother!

Logie's back!

The only good thing about the end of summer is that Logan returned to college this fall which means she's coming over weekly to have dinner with us! And all 4 of us couldn't be happier to see her more often! Tonight we kicked off Wednesday night dinners and enjoyed some beautiful weather playing outside.
(click on the picture below to see a close up of Sidney's precious giggling face as Logs, AKA: the shark, caught her).

Welcome back to college Logan! We're happy to have you again.

Windy evening

We didn't let the 40 mph gusts of wind keep us from spending the evening outside tonight. Logan once again joined us for dinner and some playtime in the yard. The girls just light up when I tell them that Logan will be coming for dinner; it honestly gets them moving out the door from school at a much faster rate.
We played with chalk
and looked hideous to any passerby's as we each took turns laying on the driveway to be traced. In all honesty, a few neighbors stopped to chat while we laid on the driveway! And I got dizzy by looking up to the clouds that were moving much too quickly due to the wind.
we found these tiny eggs in a hanging pot.
Ryan had the bejeezes scared out of him yesterday when he went to water the flower and mama red finch came flying out, just inches from his arm/head. The girls are thrilled to watch the eggs and eventually see baby birds.
And in Regan's book, the night just isn't complete until we play a round (or 12) of hide n seek tag! Check out the football hold that Logan has Sidney in; she thought it was pretty fun to be a part of the game but wanted to be carried because she just can't keep up otherwise!

Winding up to wind down

Every spring, it's the season to wind up to wind down. In other words, every activity/event/hobby holds parties, ceremonies, etc to wrap up the school year. We celebrated one of those tonight. And it's one special event we are SURE to miss this summer: weekly dinners with Logan! I can't tell you the excitement on the girls' face when I announced "Logan is coming tonight" each week; it was priceless!
We can't wait until you come back to school in the fall!

Hula hula

Ever since Regan discovered the hula hoops (meant to be Easter gifts left in plain sight by none other than me), she has challenged anyone to a hula contest. She's definitely improving her hula abilities and impressed us with how long she can keep going. Tonight, on our favorite night of the week, it was Logan's turn to take on the challenge. We all look forward to Logan's weekly visits, in fact, Sidney wakes up Wednesday mornings and announces "Logie coming today?"!
Happy hula!

Wednesday Game Night

Wednesday nights we are blessed to be joined by Ryan's cousin, Logan, for dinner and some play time with the girls. Tonight, Regan anxiously waited for Logan to come through the door and was all set up to play Connect 4. After playing the game, they opted to stack the checkers in various patterns and graciously allow Sidney to karate chop down their tower. It was quite the sight to watch all those checkers fly across the living room floor!
Sidney had fun playing Candy Land with Ryan. I think he and I were both impressed at her abilities to play this game. At not even 2 1/2 yrs, she does considerably well following the game rules...however, she needs a few lessons in turn taking. I think it was Sidney's turn for about 5 minutes before Ryan got to turn over a card!

Game night

Tonight after dinner, the girls opened up the cabinet which contains the overflow games and it was like Christmas all over again! We've had to get real creative with how to store toys and games because I ran out of room to keep everything out in the open. So there were games in this cabinet that the girls hadn't seen in a couple of months.

Logan relived her childhood by playing Pretty Pretty Princess!
Regan won the first game, and then in a rematch, Logan won but I didn't get a picture :(.
Sidney likes to play Don't Spill the Beans and she goes crazy when they spill. Just watching her face in the anticipation of a spill is enough to put a big smile on my face; especially when she's still not feeling up to speed. We also played Diggity Dog and Farm Animal Matching games.
I love game night!

Story time

Sometimes being short, works to your advantage :) Logan fits perfectly under the dining room table where the girls brought her so she could read stories after dinner last night. Let's just say she looks more comfortable under there than Ryan does!

Wednesday nights....

Wednesday nights around here see a few more faces. Logan has been joining us for dinner weekly and when Maddi isn't working, she comes along for some fun too. Our girls simply love to spend a few hours with these two gals and tonight was no different. After dinner, we played in the toy room, got the kiddos pretty hyper, and finally settled down to some "salon" play. We all got some pretty good laughs as Maddi created a pretty interesting new do for Regan....

Thankfully Regan disagreed with Maddi that she should wear this "French twist", as Maddi called it, to school tomorrow, or worse, for her high school prom some day!
Not to be left out, Sidney only wanted Logan to touch her hair.... I wonder why?! She had a couple of cute pony tails but after pulling them each out, we started to call her Elvis.
